my contribution...

my contribution..., originally uploaded by credd.

The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise), and is said to live for a thousand years. In Japan, it is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes makes a person's wish come true.  *definition from wikipedia.

after seeing soupatraveler's photo and the reference and link to damiec's 1000 cranes project yesterday...i was inspired to contribute.

i had an idea that i mentioned to a few of my co-workers...and we've decided to make cranes during lunchtime. i printed out some directions...and made my first crane this evening. :)

tomorrow...i will approach our building manager about having the cranes on display in the complex...and allowing us to take up donations (sponsor a crane for $1) that we will send to japan.  the complex also has a large conference room...and perhaps we can have a day where you can drop in and make a crane.

i bought all of the origami paper...and hope to inspire those in my immediate circle to create 1000 cranes of our own.
